Why a multidisciplinary care process can benefit people with multiple sclerosis

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) affect the lives of people with multiple sclerosis (MS) including their ability to work. A joint discussion paper by the Italian National Institute for Insurance against Accidents at Work (INAIL) and EU-OSHA presents the interventions and preventive strategies that can mitigate the impact of MSDs on workers suffering from MS.

Adapting working conditions and the environment to workers with MS’ health status is beneficial, particularly in their quest to find and retain employment. Further, introducing a multidisciplinary care process, especially occupational therapy, would help these workers to cope better and immerse themselves in their daily life and work activities with increased performance and fewer impairments.
